Sydney Maas is a multimedia artist from Northern New Jersey based in Rochester, New York. Currently, she is in her second year of a ceramic residency at Flower City Arts Center. She graduated from Rochester Institute of Technology with a BFA in Fine Art Photography. She also graduated from County College of Morris with an Applied Associates in Photography.

I am very intrigued by the intersection of different mediums. Photography is the core of my work; it is a unifier between all mediums. Its inherent flatness used to frustrate me, but through discovering my love of ceramics and rediscovering my childhood love for sewing, my imagery has a new sense of life to it. There is something compelling about making a typically 2 dimensional medium and making it tangible and even functional. I am thinking about the complicated relationship between femininity and domesticity; without one you cannot have the other.
